Melissa Porter (President)
Doug Forbes (Vice-President)
Doug Forbes has been a member of the Bookies Club for 25 years and a President or Vice-President for 20 years. He was involved in rebuilding the Wharf Street Venue after it burnt down.
He is currently retired and owns a number of successful race horses.
Nick Adams (Secretary / Treasurer)
Nick has been a member of the Bookies club for over a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Information Technology from QUT.
He owns a very unsuccessful race horse and enjoys the occasional flutter on the horses.
Michael Reen (Committee Member)
Michael joined the club in 2011 and has worked in the Public Sector including the Queensland Audit Office and has held senior Financial Management and Governance roles in the Queensland Police Service and currently works in a senior management role for Arts Queensland. His qualifications include a bachelor of business degree, majoring in accounting and a post–graduate certificate in Public Sector Management.
Michael is a fellow member of CPA Australia (FCPA).
Michael has been a race horse owner and is a keen form student and ratings analyst and is dipping his toes into breeding one this year.
Margaret Groves (Committee Member)
Margaret Groves has been a member of the Bookmakers Club for over 12 years. She has 30 years experience in both Indoor Netball and Basketball.
She has held many official positions in the sport of Basketball including Secretary of Women’s Basketball Australia, Management Committee Women’s National Basketball League, Management Committee Brisbane Basketball Incorporated, Media Officer World Masters Games Brisbane plus many more. Margaret and her husband have enjoyed horse racing for many years.
Margaret is currently employed by the APN group and her role is Key Account Executive at The Reporter Newspaper in Brisbane.
